Casey is the owner and a qualified arborist. He answers the phone, comes out to look at the job, works alongside the crew and makes sure things are done properly.

From contracting to building something of our own

Before Tweed Coast Tree Surgeons, Casey spent years contracting for other tree companies. He was doing the work, earning a wage and building someone else's business.

Starting Tweed Coast Tree Surgeons meant starting from scratch: no brand, no reviews, no Google listing and no customers waiting for us.

We just got stuck into it.

Since then, we've built the business one job at a time. Most of that growth has come from doing what we reckon any good tree company should do: turning up when we say we will, doing the job properly, looking after people's property and cleaning up properly before we leave.

We're still a small local business, and we like it that way.

Based here in the Tweed, we work across the Tweed Coast, Byron Shire and Southern Gold Coast.

Casey is the owner and a qualified AQF Level 3 arborist, and he's still out on the tools every day.

We always have a minimum of three people on site. Tree work is safer and more efficient when you have the right people on the ground, and we don't believe in sending one person out to try and do a three-person job.

Our crew currently includes three qualified arborists and two apprentice arborists. Between the crew, we have more than 20 years of combined experience in the industry.

We're also proud to be able to give the next generation of arborists a start in the industry and teach them to do things properly from the ground up.

For larger or more complicated jobs, we bring in extra crew and equipment when it's needed.

Qualified, experienced and upfront about what we do

Casey holds an AQF Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture, covering the climbing, rigging, pruning and tree removal work we carry out.

Where a job requires specialist consulting work outside our qualifications, such as certain arborist reports, tree protection plans or council-related assessments, we work with qualified AQF Level 5 consulting arborists.

We'd rather be upfront about what we can and can't do than pretend to be something we're not.

We take the paperwork seriously too

We carry $20 million public liability insurance and can provide a certificate of currency when required.

We also provide the appropriate safety documentation for our jobs, including Safe Work Method Statements where required.

For strata managers, property managers, real estate agents, builders and commercial clients, we understand that having the right paperwork isn't optional. We keep it organised so you don't have to chase us for it.

We don't believe every tree needs to come down

Not every tree needs to come down.

Sometimes it needs pruning. Sometimes it needs monitoring. Sometimes there's a genuine risk that needs to be dealt with.

Our job is to look at the tree, the site and what's around it and work out the safest and most practical option.

That means looking at things like the condition of the tree, where it is, what's underneath it, access, powerlines, buildings and what could happen if something went wrong.

Then we'll tell you what we think needs to be done.

No scare tactics. No pushing unnecessary work.

Just an honest assessment, the right equipment and a crew that knows what they're doing.
