Tree removal, pruning & view restoration in Banora Point

Banora Point is hills, established gardens and views over the Terranora inlet. Trees planted decades ago are now very large, often on slopes near the house, and a lot of our work here is bringing back a view or some light without wrecking the tree.

The signature Banora Point job is view and light restoration. Homes up on the hills paid for the outlook, and over twenty or thirty years the trees have grown up and taken it back. We do selective canopy reduction and crown thinning to open the view back up while keeping the tree healthy, which is very different to topping it (we don’t do that).

It’s careful work, because a lot of these trees are large enough to be in council’s “very large tree” category, and the slopes make access tricky. We plan how the gear and the waste come and go, prune to AS 4373, and flag anything that needs an application before we start. Get it right and you’ve got your view back and a tree that’s still sound.

The canal and waterfront estates down towards Terranora bring their own access puzzle. Blocks are tight, fences and pools sit close to the trees, and there’s often water on one side and a narrow driveway on the other, so there’s nowhere to just drop a big limb. On those jobs we rig and lower sections in a controlled way rather than felling, set up to protect the fence line, lawn and any pontoon or retaining wall, and barrow the waste out the front. It takes a bit longer, but it keeps the mess off your property and the neighbours’, and nothing ends up in the water.
