This is the page nobody else in the area really has, because this is the work most crews quietly avoid. The tree in the tight backyard. The one over the tiled roof. The big trunk with a pool underneath and a powerline ten metres away. We don’t avoid those jobs, we’re set up for them.
The method matches the tree, not the other way around. Where there’s room, we fell. Where there isn’t, Bowie climbs it and we rig it down piece by piece, lowering every section on ropes so nothing lands where it shouldn’t. When a trunk’s too big or the access is impossible, we bring in a crane and lift it out cleanly under the Mobile Crane Code of Practice. None of that is for show. It’s the difference between a job done safely and a job done dangerously.
Powerlines deserve a word. There’s a 10-metre exclusion zone around them for anyone who isn’t qualified, and anything touching the actual network is an Energex or Essential Energy job, full stop. We work right up to where it’s safe and legal, with the clearances planned in advance. Please don’t DIY a tree near powerlines. It’s one of the most common ways this work kills people.

We bring in crane work under the Mobile Crane Code of Practice, and Bowie climbs and rigs section by section when an EWP can't fit. The method matches the tree, not the other way around.
That's our bread and butter. We lower it in controlled sections with ropes and rigging so nothing drops on the roof, the pool, the fence or the garden. The cramped, over-the-house jobs other crews knock back are the ones we're set up for.
We plan around it. The Tweed and Gold Coast are koala and native-fauna country, and there are duty-of-care rules about disturbing wildlife. If there's a chance of fauna in the tree we'll arrange a wildlife spotter-catcher and work to keep them safe. It's the right thing to do and it's the law.
